Severe flooding closes roads in NSW

Severe flooding in parts of NSW has led to a natural disaster being declared, with more rain expected to fall today

Flooding on the Hawkesbury River in March – warnings are again in place

Those living along the Hunter River in Glenridding, Dunolly, Combo, Whittingham and Scotts Flat have been ordered to evacuate with rising flood waters expected to close roads in the region. These join a raft of other evacuation orders from yesterday as the heavy rainfall moves north into the Hunter and Newcastle regions.

Major flooding is currently taking place at Bulga and Wollombi, with flooding expected in Singleton later today, and many roads are closed in and around Sydney.

A landslide hazard warning is currently in place on Putty Road between Colo Heights Road and Millbrodale Road, with diversions in place. Further south there are several road closures around the Hawkesbury River in the Windsor/McGraths Hill/North Richmond area.

The Pacific Highway bridge over Wallarah Creek is closed between Charmhaven and San Remo.

A section of the Golden Highway between Mount Thorley and Belford is closed, as well as Main Road/Cessnock Road between New England Highway and Avery Lane, connecting Cliftleigh to Maitland.

The Bureau of Meteorology NSW has forecast heavy or intense rainfall across the mid north coast of the state, centered on Port Macquarie, and has warned of flash floods today.
