OmniTrans Seeks Input on Proposed Temporary Suspension of Route 290

Over the past year and a half, OmniTrans has closely followed passenger trends, demand, bus service has been gradually restored and even introduced new transportation options to better suit the changing needs of our community. In August, the number of bus lines was increased, and other routes returned to service to better align with the beginning of personal learning in our schools and colleges.

As the effects of the epidemic continue to manifest themselves, OmniTrans is now facing a shortage of coach operators due to the continued tight labor market we are seeing across the country. Therefore, OmniTrans should consider changing service levels in January 2022 to continue to provide reliable service with minimal impact on customers, including a temporary suspension of the Express Expressway Road 290. (Watch the presentation video below.)

Route 290 currently serves the San Bernardino Pass Center, the Arhouhd Medical Center, Ontario Mills and the Montclair Pass Center. If Highway 290 were suspended, those four destinations would still be managed by local OmniTrans bus lines.
