MSC Cruises hosts MSC Virtuosa naming ceremony in UAE

MSC Cruises baptized the new MSC Virtuosa during a ceremony held in Port Rashid, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 27 November.

“We are honored to host this maritime tradition in the UAE during its golden jubilee year and with it, to mark our long-term and long-term commitment to this region,” said Pierfrancesco Vago, senior chairman of MSC Cruises. “Sailing is an integral part of the tourism industry “The dynamic of the UAE, and thanks to our unique global distribution network we will continue to promote the country and the Middle East all over the world as an attractive holiday option to support further growth of the tourism industry locally.”

The naming ceremony was hosted by UAE TV man Omar Booty and Italian actress Sophia Loren who officially christened MSC Virtuosa by cutting the film that broke a bottle of champagne on the ship’s hull in accordance with maritime tradition. Among the guests were members of the royal family, the commander of the vessel, Captain Francesco and Niro and other officials from around the world. The ceremony also included a fireworks display, a gala dinner and a performance by Rag’n’Bone Man.

“The hosting of the name ceremony for MSC Cruises’ newest flagship, MSC Virtuosa, in Dubai, testifies to the city’s popularity as a cruise gate to the region,” said Hillel Said Almari, Director General of the Economics and Tourism Department in Dubai. “Icons and milestone events such as these reflect the crucial contribution of sailing to the city’s tourism industry.”

The ship, which can carry 6,334 passengers and 1,704 crew, includes a wide selection of restaurants, bars, lounges, swimming pools and contributes to the UAE’s common goal of zero net emissions by 2050. MSC Virtuosa will depart from Dubai on 28 November for it. First trip in the Gulf, visit Abu Dhabi, the island of Sir Bnei Yas and Doha, Qatar.
