GoRaleigh and INIT partner for Electric Fleet Smart Charge Management System

GoRaleigh, The public transportation provider serving Rally and the surrounding communities in Wake County, North Carolina has partnered with INIT for an electrified smart charge management system that will help operate their recently launched electric fleet.

The agency will use INIT’s payment management solution, MOBILEcharge, to automate charging processes, efficiently manage electricity requirements, align service schedules and proactively maintain their new electronic vehicles. Integration with the agency’s CAD / AVL systems and design will enable real-time charging plan updates in accordance with operational needs, while ensuring vehicle loading in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

David Itman, Assistant Director, Rally City Transportation Department said, “Our partnership with INIT will enable us to intelligently manage the charging process for our electronic buses and realize cost savings through load management and efficient prioritization according to operational needs.”

GoRaleigh staff will use the system to monitor and coordinate charging activities and ensure they do not exceed power limits. They will also be able to categorize the services that a vehicle may need to perform (e.g., distinguishing between appropriate full-day payment modes versus allocating load hours) so that these plans can be easily implemented again in the future.

The comprehensive functionality of the INIT solution is in line with the Agency’s target of transferring 70% of its fleet to zero or almost zero emissions by 2023.

GoRaleigh will benefit from reduced power costs, improved operational efficiency and continuous maintenance of a growing fleet of electric vehicles in the long run. Due to its scalability, INIT’s smart charge management system can support GoRaleigh as it continues to grow and expand its services.
