Entering The Land of Unicorns and Pixie Dust – TransLink’s Current P.R. Gamble : Rail for the Valley

Well, the first surprise was that this news came through the Alaska News From all places.

It tells me that TransLink is turning the story over to anyone it can to give it the good news!

The big problem is that there is no money to fund these big plans and the post-Cubid economy may not support the level of taxation that politicians have deceived themselves that they can shake out of the taxpayer’s pocket.

Metro Vancouver’s high-speed transportation system should quadruple by 2050 with 300 miles of new lines, including a SkyTrain, subway, light rail or high-speed bus service, the TransLink report released today said.

So will someone please tell me how much it will cost?

The expansion of the Langley Expo line will cost $ 250 million per mile and the Broadway subway will exceed $ 500 million per mile for current construction. The city of Vancouver claims a 12-mile tram will cost over a billion dollars, so where does the money come from?

It also turns out why Kevin Quinn was hired to be the CEO of TransLink. Quinn holds a master’s degree in public policy from Johns Hopkins University.

I emailed his MTA in Baltimore, asking about Mr. Quinn and what I got back was not reassuring.

You’re about to get a new TransLink CEO in the person of Kevin Quinn. It’s a good news / bad news situation. The good news is that we’re getting rid of it, the bad news you’re getting.

Mr. Quinn may be the nicest yes man you will ever meet. He is very personal and friendly, but has not really seen him in 6 years with his own opinion and if he has any use for a light rail he has hidden it well.

I hope you have better luck than Baltimore, the number of riders disabled (before the plague) 2% year on year since it took over.

TransLink has serious financial problems; TransLink has not acquired the additional $ 1 billion to complete the Expo Langley expansion. TransLink does not have the funds to cover subway costs on Broadway. Cubid made a deep cut in the amount of passengers and revenue from riders. So what does a university-trained Dr. Spin do, suffocating us in dreams about moving here, there and everywhere, while lurking in financial shadows and shifting the truth.

TransLink also has passenger issues, as usage usage has dropped slowly before Cubid, as listed in the following table. Rider numbers are growing at a slower rate compared to rising population numbers.

Let us not forget that the number of passengers in transit in Baltimore dropped by 2% per year each year, during Mr. Quinn’s tenure there!

Before Cubid, the share of transportation mode was declining.

What TransLink is doing is launching the first shot at the 2022 civilian campaign that gives current politicians platforms to win re-elections. Translink has no money, revenues are going down, there is a billion dollars and a growing shortage of money to complete the Expo line expansion, the costs will surely increase for the Broadway subway, so the big crossing lie is proposed and …………

When you repeat a lie beyond often enough, people tend to believe it!
