The EZBike Project, a demonstration program for electric bicycles (electric bicycles) operated by SBCAG’s traffic solutions division, will be launched in Santa Maria in November. The program offers a wide range of free demonstrations of electric bikes to residents and passengers as a means of reducing traffic and air pollution in Santa Barbara County. Morrison Ave. And Bici Centro Santa Maria, located at 310 E. Oak St. Those interested in ordering e. The bike must live or work in Santa Barbara County and register at www.EZBike.org.

Electric bikes have become more accessible to the average consumer. Most leading bike manufacturers offer several different models making it challenging to compare one model to another, especially when some are only available for purchase online.

Kent Apperson, SBCAG’s Director of Transportation Solutions, explains, “Greater competition and size advantages have lowered the price and increased the accessibility, quality and selection of electric bikes. The EZBike project has a fleet of 13 electric bikes from local and online retailers ranging in price from less than $ 1,000 to more “From $ 4,000. The selection offers participants the opportunity to compare features, pricing and ride quality between the various demo bikes. Either way, the investment they invest in electric bikes will save money compared to driving a car.”

While bike shops offer test rides on electric bikes from the models they carry, they are usually limited to short test rides around the store. Multi-day EZBike demonstrations offer an opportunity for individuals to take an electric bike home and ride it in a variety of conditions over a five-day period and EZBike Showcase and Demo Ride events provide a framework for individuals to compare and ride different models. Brands in one visit, and all without the pressure to purchase a bicycle.

There are a number of benefits associated with electric bikes in transportation for the environment and personal health. Nancy Eckert, coordinator of SBCAG’s EZBike project, notes that in addition to these benefits is the joy of electric bikes, “electric bikes are a smile. I know that when people return the bike after five days, they will return with fun stories of magical moments and childish wonders Test riding an electric bicycle. “

Electric bikes are recognized as more accessible to those who have physical limitations that may prevent them from riding a standard bike. Kendra Wise, Santa Barbara County Superintendent of Environmental Health, converted an electric bike after attending the demonstration, stating, “Until I did a test ride on an electric bike I had no idea it would replace such a game. After the demonstration day I finally bought an electric bike and used it to ride whenever I could. “If mom is not so fit with a minivan can ride an electric bike, anyone can.”

Those interested in ordering a multi-day demonstration electric bike can register at www.EZBike.org. The booking options for November in Santa Maria are available for two periods: November 2 to 7, and November 11 to 15.
