Einride orders 110 Scania electric trucks

Scania will produce more than 100 electric trucks for a European freight company

Scania has received a landmark electric truck order

Truck manufacturer Scania has signaled its intention to intensify its electrification process, partnering with a Swedish freight technology company to accelerate its transition to electric fleets.

Scania will work with the Swedish group Einride to help roll out 110 Scania trucks starting in the second half of 2022 that will help Einride optimize its electric freight fleet.

Einride is a freight technology company that provides digital, electric and autonomous shipping solutions, while also possessing a large heavy duty electric fleet.

The 110 truck order marks the largest order of heavy-duty electric trucks to date for Scania and signals the start of a collaborative product development partnership with Einride.

The full fleet of trucks will be built to Einride’s hardware specifications and powered by its operating system in Saga to ensure that electric shipping is efficient.

The Saga platform ensures that fleet data insights are accurate and will be provided to Scania.

“These 110 trucks will make a substantial contribution to increasing our fleet,” Einride chief product officer Ellen Kugelberg says.

“We will continue to join forces with industry players like Scania to drive innovation and product development in the global transport industry.”

Einride’s order is the largest deal to date of electric heavy-duty vehicles in Europe for Scania, as it also signals the start of a new long-term partnership that will intensify the move to electric road freight.

Scania’s head of e-mobility Fredrik Allard says: “We share the same vision of decarbonising heavy transport.”

“It has been rewarding to work with Einride on joint new technical solutions and digital services that will sustainably advance our industry.”

The fleet of Scania trucks will be implemented in Europe during 2022 and the start of 2023.
